I’ve never considered myself a writer, in fact I think I may have embraced photography that much more when I realized I would never be a novelist or journalist. Regardless, I am happy to start blogging again. I’d like to write my first post about Why I am a photographer and Why this is the life I’ve chosen for myself.
This photograph is one of my all time favorites, from Cesar and Esther’s wedding in Tremosine, Italy. The bride’s family is based in Germany, the groom is from Mexico, however his family were unable to attend. It was unseasonably rainy during this trip, in fact it started pouring just as soon as the couple were pronounced married. We ran to this covered area for portraits, some of my favorite images from the day. The groom had this photograph of him as a baby, being held by his mother and later father. We took this image so Cesar could show his family they were very much a part of the day and how important they are to him.
Weddings are filled with love, but so often they are about the loved ones who couldn’t be there, just as much as those who could. Photographs like this are a constant reminder that our loved ones are always with us, even when they can’t be. Those are the memories worth passing on holding each tightly with no fear of forgetting how good life was to us in those moments.
